Warm-up and Objective Discussion

Class Circle Singing Warm up
To activate prior knowledge the student will sing along to familiar songs.
-Good Morning Song
-Numbers Song 1 to 5
-Foods We Like Song
On digital board teacher will show a picture of a breakfast table and ask student what he sees to identify vocabulary.  The second screen will be of letter Pp to practice writing the letter and reviewing vocabulary.
Explain to students that we will be talking about breakfast time, reading a story book about breakfast foods, and that at the end of the class we will design a breakfast menu.

Electronic Flash Cards of Vocabulary
The teacher will use electronic flashcards projected on class screen to formally introduce new vocabulary and work on pronunciation.

Read a Long Breakfast Time
As emergent readers a guided read a long is a great initial practice.
The teacher reads a page with great inflections and pauses.
The children repeat the sentence right after the teacher as a group.
Children may practice as if they are chanting, different class levels are prominent at this point since the students are emergent readers. 
Following along will help reinforce phonics, sight words, grammar structures, etc.
Each time we reach a vocabulary word teacher will pause to show an image or toy that represents the word.

The child will draw their favorite breakfast on a breakfast plate. Teacher will help emergent writers label their breakfast food.

Breakfast Menu

The child will design a breakfast menu to present to the class.  The children can use any computer program to design his or her menu.
